Hatshepsut, Queen of Denial

Kathryn's last school play was last week.  It was titled "Hatshepsut, Queen of Denial".  It was about ancient Egypt and a Queen Pharaoh.  The kids had been learning about Egypt, mummies, and pyramids.
Kathryn had one of the main parts in this program.  Her name was Ms. Applebee.  (All of the kids thought this was pretty funny!)  She played an intern at a museum, trying to identify a new mummy that had been brought into the museum.
She did a great job!  She memorized all of her parts.  She even had a few funny lines that she delivered perfectly!
Mat had the day off, so he got to come an watch her perform in her last play of the year!  Kat was super excited that Daddy would be able to see her perform!
The mummy, Queen Hatshepsut comes to life and tells her side of the story.
They sang a bunch of songs about life in ancient Egypt and things that were going on then.

Queen Hatshepsut took the throne while her son was little.  When he got big he tried to destroy all the evidence that she had been Pharaoh, but the scientist had discovered that she had been Pharaoh.  (It is a made up story that has facts that really took place.)

It was a great play!  Kathryn was lucky to have a great teacher who enjoyed helping the kids learn through experiences like this!  Kat loved performing and being part of all of these fun programs!

Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock

Kat had another performance yesterday. It was with a few other second grade classes. The kids were split into groups and each group was a different animal. It was really cute! They sang lots of cute songs and told a story about living in the jungle. Kat was a lion! Rawr!
Kat's teacher is so cute and comes up with lots of fun ideas for the class. I am really glad Kat is having a good year this year and getting to lots of fun things that she loves!

Take a bow!

This picture of me is so lovely, isn't it? I have no makeup on and look a bit scary! Em insisted upon taking my pic, and I was just trying to keep her occupied!

Emma's picture is adorable! She is such a poser!
