Daddy Daughter Date

Mat took Kat to the 'Blue Man Group' and to Olive Garden for dinner last night!  It was a daddy daughter date for Kat's birthday!  Kat had a lot of fun!  She was amazed with the show and was wide-eyed when she got home!  I didn't think she would be able to fall asleep when they got home (way past her bed time!)  but she was out as soon as she hit the pillow.
I love that Mat is willing and excited to take the girls out one-on-one.  I think it is a special thing for the girls and for Mat.  Especially with Mat's crazy schedule, the girls miss their daddy.  I hope they continue to go on 'dates' for a long time with their daddy!  (Em giggles whenever we call it a date - I guess she thinks it is silly that we call it a date!)

A Hairy Post!

Yesterday I tried a new thing with the girls' hair.  It is suppose to look like a heart.
Basically, you make a square and a ponytail out of it then pull it through backwards.  (It will hang in their eyes.)  You make a second square with pony behind.  Then you seperatethe front in half.  You twist those pieces away from the middle and join them back behind the knot.  You add the twisted part to the second pony.  Wha - laaa!  A heart!  I think it will be a cute twist on our regular every day, keep the hair out of Em's eyes pony tail.

For Kat we did three hearts.  It was a little more of a process to do hers.  Here is a link for the instructions The Story of a Princess and Her Hair
It looks a lot better on the website!  And I think it would look better with longer hair.
I like trying out new hair once and a while - my girls don't like to get their hair done very often though.

It's Great to be Eight!

Today kathryn turned 8 years old!  I can hardly believe that eight years ago I was in the hospital giving birth to her (while watching the SLC Olympic Games)!
She is getting more mature - though not when it comes to dealing with her sister!!!  She is doing great in school and has a good handful of good friends!  She is excited to start going to Activity Days with one of her closest friends, Elise!  She is also still preparing herself to be baptized in a couple of weeks!  (She has a hard time with paying tithing on all of her b-day money!)

I told her she could decide what to do for her birthday. First, she wanted a yummy breakfast.  Mat made bacon & eggs, and french toast!!!  Yummy!

(When she opened up the movie "Phantom of the Opera")
Then she got to open her presents!  She got a bunch of cards in the mail from family and she loved it!  Even though family is far away, she knows she is loved.  That's a very good thing!  Mat and I surprisedher with a couple of things - she gets to go see Phantom of the Opera with me when Aunt Cristin comes down in April! - and Mat is takin gher to Blue Man Group next Saturday!  She is so very excited for both of them.  We told her that now that she is 8 years old she can go to shows!
Em got Kat some HSM sunglasses!

(Finding out about Blue Man Group!)

After presents, Kat and I got ready and left for the day.  We went shopping at Old Navy to get her some new shoes for pictures.  We went to Eupohria for her to get her hair done.  (It's a beauty college = cheaper for me!)  She go her hair washed, dried and curled!  She looked so cute!  (I forgot to take pics when her hair was done - sorry!)

Then we went to Target for pictures!  I also let her pick out a new outfit and she used some of her birthday money to buy a new Littlest Pet Shop Toy.  Her pictures turned out really cute (I spent too much money....shhhhh!  Don't tell Mat!)

(Her new outfit, complete with hat!  So cute!)
~
Hopefully I can put up a link to them so you can see them online until I get them back from the studio.

When we finally got home tonight, we had cake and ice cream!  Yumm!
~~

We didn't get her a lot of toys for her birthday, but she got show tickets and a day of pampering with mom!  She also got her ears pierced last week!  So, basically, for not getting any toys, this turned out to be one expensive birthday fr her!  (Luckily the Blue Man Tickets were free thru Mat's work!)  And, we still have her birthday party on Saturday!  Geeze!
I love Kat so much!  I am happy that we got to spend the day together having fun and letting her have it ba all about her!  She is growing up and it mkes me sad.  But when I see her making the right choices and being a good friend and leader, it make me happy!  Everyone I work with says she is my 'mini me'!  I don't think it is that great for Kat to be labled my mini, but secretly I love it!  She is my buddy and a sweetheart!!!
HAPPY BITHDAY KAT!!!!

She's Growing Up!

My baby is growing up!  *sniffle*
I took her after school toady to get her ears pierced!
I got mine pierced when I was eight and ready to be baptized.  Mat and I figured that was a good rule for our family as well.
Kat before we went into the mall!  She was a little nervous!!!

I took her tonight so that she wouldn't have to be in pain on her actual birthday!  She did great!  She was nervous, that's for sure!  The lady did the first ear and Kat looked a little shocked.  Then the other ear.  Kat looked like she wanted to cry or scream!!!  She didn't, but the look on her face was priceless!  I would have taken pics of the actual event, but I was too busy having my hands squeazed by my baby holding on for dear life!!!
She picked out cute little pink flowers for her earings.  She keeps asking if she needs to go clean them!  :)  It's gonna be a long 6 weeks!!!  She will get to take them out for Easter, so the Easter Bunny might have to put new earings in her basket!

Can't you tell that she was a little uncertain of what just happened?!?!  Her face always tells me how she's feeling!
I love Kat so much!  She is a sweet heart and I can't believe she is turning 8!!!  Time has flown!
For her birthday she is ging to pampered with getting her hair done, shopping for a new outfit and pictures taken.  She also asked for a yummy breakfast (Mat's job!!!) so we will post more on Monday after we have had some fun!

New Dresses!

Grandma and Grandpa Wilson sent the girls these cute dresses for Valentines Day! They both wanted to wear them today! I had to take a pic so Grandma and Grandpa could see how cute they are! (Just please ignore Em's bed head! This was before school and I hadn't done her hair yet,but she had nicely added a bow to make it better!)
Thanks so much!
And thank you Sarah for the cute rings! They love them!!!

It's a Small World!

(I don't know what happened - but this posted really weird! In editing it wouldn't let me see the pics, just the HTML, so I couldn't move pics around! It was really wierd! So I appologize that it is a bit jumbled!)

~~
Kathryn had a program on Friday at school. It was based on "It's a Small World". Each child was assigned a county to do a report on. They had a work book to fill out with information about the country. They were to put a poster together about the country. They were also assigned to make an authentic dish from the country and to dress up for the program. Kathryn was assigned Great Britain. We made Scotch Shortbread and Kat wore a school uniform look! (Iknow it is kind of a stretch, but we couldn't come up with anything else!!!) The program was very fun! They sang a lot of songs and each child had a speaking part. After the program we were invited back to the classroom to eat the yummy treat everyone had made! It was a fun way for the kids to learn about the world, and to get a chance to eat things from other countries that they probably would never try otherwise!

"It's a Small World"

One of Kat's dances!

Kat's Speaking part (You don't hear her say "The Netherlands is a..." because she picked up the mic and starte talking before she was standing still, so I didn't start recording in time!)

"Edelweiss" I recorded part of this for my dad! :)
