I have been bad about keeping up with this blog.  I guess I think to only post about the positive things - the fun times, the vacations, the good things the girls do.  I figure people don't want to read about the unfun things; the trials and the stress.  We haven't been up to much 'fun' as of late, so her is run=down of our 'unfun' life!

Life has been ok.  The girls have been have been in school and doing well.  Emma loves Preschool and all the fun that comes with it.  I have not seen one tear from her or any 'I don't want to go to school'.  When I drop her off in the mornings she just marches herself right in the building and barely even acknowledges that I am leaving her!  I guess it is a good thing that she is pretty independent and loves doing things on her own.

Kat likes school.  Not loves, but likes it.  She likes her teacher and has made a couple of friends.  She has had a few issues that we have been dealing with and hopefully will be able to have answers to soon.  At her back to school check up her dr ordered some blood work to be done.  A few weeks later (on my birthday, actually) we went in for the blood draw.  She was so brave!  She didn't even cry or complain!  They took a ton of vials of blood!  Even the nurse kind of looked at me like 'Your dr ordered all of these?!?"

A week or so later we got a call with the results.  Kat's thyroid levels are abnormal.  Obviously, I  hopped right on line to see what that even means!  The only thing I really knew about  the Thyroid is that people blame it when they are overweight!  "I have a thyroid issue". 

Anyway, after reading a lot about the Thyroid, I realized how much of the body it actually effects - including your mood and energy levels.  Looking back, over the past couple of months, I realized how out of control Kat's emotions had become.  She has always been a bit of an introvert and quick to get embarrassed or frustrated.  But as of late, she cries at the drop of a hat (or type of sock, or Em looking at her, or shoes too tight) and is acting 'depressed'.  She is always sad and way too hard on her self.  I realized that life for Kat is no fun.  She is not a kid.  She worries over everything and everything is sooo important.  She can't kick back and relax. 

I told the nurse this and we got Kat on some meds to help try to calm her down a little.  She has been on them for about a week now and I can honestly tell a difference.  She is still moody and emotional, but not on edge all the time.  It has kind of mellowed her out a little.  Hopefully it will only continue to improve.

Tomorrow I take her in for an ultrasound and we will start her on another med for the thyriod and try to get that under control. 

It has made me sad to watch her and see how painful life must be.  It has made me a lot more patient with her because I know it isn't her and she isn't trying to be difficult!  I love her so much and just want her to be happy and enjoy life!  I will keep you posted on what we find in the next week.

So there is a little about the girls. 

Mat is still in school and is glad to be more than half way done!  He is also working full time for the State of Nevada.  He likes the work.  Hates the bosses.  He is looking for other positions within the state and hopefully will find something.  It is hard to have to go to work and be cussed out for everyone's problems.

I am working, PTA'ing and still in Primary.  I am usually busy, but I really enjoy working with the kids at church and school.  Knowing that I am helping them have a better learning environment makes me feel like I am doing something important.

Nothing Exciting!

I haven't posted for a while (again!) but that is only because there isn't really anything to post!  But, I am going to tell you all what's been happening, even if it isn't anything exciting!

Mat finally finished his training and started his new job last week.  He is a Family Services Specialist with the State of Nevada.  He had 6 weeks of training and is finally graduating today.  Yes, they are having a graduation for all the new hires.  (Really?!?!  You would think the State of Nevada would realize it is really short on funds and really needs all their people working!  Oh well!)  He is excited to be done with training and finally get on with it!  He seems to like it, so far.  Our insurance will finally kick in on July 1, so that will be a blessing!

I am still just working and trying to catch up on sleep after working! :)  There is lots of stuff going on with Kat almost done with school, so that also keeps me going!  3 field trips in the next two weeks!  Yay!

Kat has 4 weeks of school left, and then will be out until the end of August.  Not sure how I feel about this!  When she is home all day the girls fight 98% of the time!  I have already started coming up with weekly themes and activities to do, just to get us up and going and get us out of the house!  Not that you really want to leave the AC comfort of home lately!  It got up to 109 last week!  Ugh!  This weekend it cooled down a little, mid 80's, so that was nice.  I don't expect that to last long!

Em is so eager to learn lately.  She has some work books that she loves and will sit and work on them for hours.  It is super cute!  I totally need to find her a good Preschool for this fall!  (Add that to my list for me, would ya?!) 

Like I said, nothing exciting.  Just living life.  Making it through each day.  That's all.

Update

I have been a little neglectful on this blog!  I am so sorry!  I feel it is time for an update on our fam!

Mat started his new job about 4 weeks ago.  He is working for the State of Nevada as a Family Services Specialist.  (He is a caseworker for State benefits, basically!)  He hated the first couple of weeks because it was sitting around all day and doing book work.  Also, the programs are all Federally run, so they are the same as in Utah.  He already knew most of what they were teaching, because he has worked with most of the programs before!  Now, he is finally in his office, in the building he will be working at (which is only 15 minutes away - his other job was about 40 min away!), and working with the public.  He enjoys being able to do stuff rather than just sitting! 
He is still in 'training' for the next couple of weeks, but he is hopeful that he will like working here better than Allegiant (gasp! I know!)  The travel industry wasn't what he was hoping it to be.  At least he knows and won't always wonder 'what if...'.  He also finished up his first year at UNLV last week!  What?  A whole year?  Yay!!!  One down, one*ish to go!  He really enjoyed this semester (even kinda liked his math class - mostly because of the instructor who was really helpful in helping him pass!) He is still waiting on his grades to be posted, but we are glad he passed his math class and won't have to worry about that any more!

I have been busy the last couple of weeks with Primary and PTA stuff! There has just been a lot going on! (Including a play and field trip for Kat!)  Also, now that Mat is done with school and will be home again at night, I am working a lot more!  Since the first of the year I have only been working 2-3 nights a week equalling 10-14 hours.  This week  I have 16, next week I have 26!  I know to some of you that doesn't sound that bad, but 4 nights (in a row) I am closing, meaning I get home at 10:30 at the earliest!  Most of the times I don't get home until after 11pm.  Saturday I am doing a 9 hour shift!  Kill me now!  I will be exhausted after next week, but such is life!  We need the money (since Mat hasn't gotten a paycheck for 4 weeks! ouch!) and I am glad that I will be able to contribute a little more! 
I have also started a craft blog and am still trying to get the format and substance just right!  If you haven't checked it out yet, please do!  I need followers and hits to help build it up!  http://www.noapologycrafts.blogspot.com/ Also, if you know people who are crafty, send them my way!  I am trying to build up a list so I can start a 'feature' on my blog of other crafty people.  It is a way to help others while helping myself! :)

Kat is doing well in school.  Her math has become a lot harder, so we are actually having to work with her to help her understand it.  Up until now, pretty much everything has come easy to her.  She gets frustrated by not understanding everything, so that is hard on her.  She is enjoying being in Achievement Days now that she is 8.  They do lots of fun things and she is getting to know some of the other girls in the ward.  She is still trying to figure out her roller skates (from Grandma and Grandpa Chugg for her b-day!)  She is afraid of falling, so she basically just walks around in them instead of skating!  Kat has also been invited to and attended alot of b-day parties lately.  I think it is good for her (hard on the pocketbook) and so I try to get her to most of them, especially if they are girls that came to her party.  Mat doesn't get it, and being the anti-social that he is, tries to discourage hr from going!  Ba-humbug!

Em is getting big!  She will turn 4 on Sunday :(  My baby isn't a baby!  She is still sassy and sometimes downright mean (especially to Kat).  She has had a lot of time-outs lately because of that.  I am trying to nip it in the bud before it gets too out of hand!  She loves playing outside, and making friends at the park!  I tell you what, she will make friends with everyone and everything!  We usually get to Kat's school about 20 minutes early (you have to to find a parking spot!) and so  let her play on the playground.  There are a few other moms that are always there, so Em has made lots of BFF's!

Last week we had a scare with Bailey.  She is getting old; she is a pound puppy we adopted right after we got married.  She is 13+ years old!  She has a bunch of cyst like bumps on her neck and back.  We figured as long as she wasn't in pain, she was fine.  Well, one night, after putting the girls in bed (thankfully they weren't around or it would have been chaos!), I came into the family room and sat down to catch up on some of my shows.  I look over and Bailey's neck and side is covered in blood!  My mommy skills kicked in and I grabbed a towel and tried to figure out what the heck had happened!  I couldn't really tell, so I took her into the bath and washed her off.  After she tried to bite me couple of times, I got her out and made her lay on a blanket.  By then I knew it was one of the bumps on her neck.  I am guessing she scratched just right to make it open up.  I sat with Bailey on the floor, trying to keep it from bleeding too much, waiting for Mat to get home from school.  I cried and prayed, and cried.  I have been at peace with the fact that it is almost her time, but the reality of it was crushing!  Mat got home and immediately took Bailey into the Vet.  Four hours and $300 later, he was home with her.  She should be fine.  The Dr said it was a cyst, and we had to try to keep it clean, but let it drain (gross!).  We had pain pills and anti-biotic for her.  She has done really well.  It has scabbed over, until she scratches it just right again!  (It is right under her ear on her neck, so it is naturally where dogs scratch!)  We are pretty optimistic that she will be just fine.  It was sad, and freaky, but I am glad she is still around!

Well, there you have it!  That kind of sums up the Wilson fam :)

Hi, it's me again!

I know it's been a long time since I last posted anything, so I am taking this moment of quiet (it obviously doesn't happen very often!) to give an update on life 'round here.

We have been moved now for a couple weeks, and no more boxes to empty! Yeah! It was such a pain in the butt! Please forgive my French! We are pretty comfy now, for the most part. The girls seem to be realizing that this is 'home' now, at least until we move to Vegas! It hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. Neighbors are quiet, and I feel like we are safe. So, I guess that is what matters.

Mat and I head down to Las Vegas on Wed. morning!!! Yahoo!!! It will be lots of fun! Remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! Just kiddin'! Like we are gonna get wild and crazy! But we will have NO KIDS for a couple of days! That is the most exciting part! I love my girls, don't get me wrong, but to have no girls for a couple of days so we can play and just be together, that is awesome!
